Dr. Gargi Ghosh is an Associate Professor at the Amgen Bioprocessing Center within the Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI). Her research focuses on advancing stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine through innovations in bioprocessing and biomaterials. She holds a PhD from the University of Kentucky and prior academic roles at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and postdoctoral positions at the University of Wisconsin and University of Chicago.
Dr. Ghosh’s educational background includes a master’s degree from IIT Kanpur and a bachelor’s from the University of Calcutta, both in Chemical Engineering. Her current work addresses challenges in scaling mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) production, rejuvenating MSCs to enhance therapeutic potential, and optimizing MSC-derived exosomes for clinical applications. Key research areas include biomaterial-driven microenvironments, cell-matrix interactions, and pro-angiogenic signaling.
Her publications reflect expertise in hydrogel-based systems, biosensors, and mechanobiology. Recent work (2024–2021) explores exosome production efficiency, chondrogenic differentiation of MSCs in hybrid hydrogels, and tumor microenvironment signaling. Earlier studies (2014–2019) highlight innovations in biomaterial design for cancer cell studies, angiogenesis modulation, and diagnostic platforms.
Dr. Ghosh’s lab integrates biotechnology, engineering, and stem cell biology to translate preclinical findings into clinical solutions. Ongoing projects aim to develop scalable, matrix-tailored systems for MSC expansion and exosome-based therapies.
