Dr Gareth Hallett Davis is a Tutor in the History Department at Swansea University, joining in 2020. He teaches modules covering US history and early modern history, with a unique focus on historical narratives in film and television. Prior to academia, he had an award-winning career in television as a producer and presenter of travel and historical documentaries.
- PhD from University College London (2019), examining the impact of British North America on American national identity (1760-1871)
- Fluency in both English and Welsh, reflected in his teaching
His research expertise spans political, social, and cultural histories of North America from the 17th century to the modern era, focusing on themes like public sphere, race, gender, imperialism, and spatial analysis. He supervises postgraduate dissertations and teaches modules including:
