Professor Gareth Griffiths is a Professor of Clinical Trials and Director of the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) at the University of Southampton. His work focuses on developing and overseeing phase I-III clinical trials and early diagnosis studies across various cancers and diseases, aiming to improve treatment standards in the NHS. He leads multidisciplinary teams to design trials that evaluate new therapies, including small dose-finding studies and large-scale efficacy assessments. His research also includes pioneering early cancer detection methods involving thousands of patients.
Key research interests include clinical trial methodology, oncology, and translational research. He has contributed to over 30 active projects, such as the AGILE platform for rapid evaluation of COVID-19 treatments and the OPTIMATE trial for CNS lymphoma.
