Professor Peter Johnson is a Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Southampton. He is also the National Clinical Director for Cancer (since 2019) and holds prestigious awards including CBE (2016) and FMedSci (2014). His research focuses on lymphoma treatment, immunotherapy, and clinical trials, with particular expertise in B-cell lymphomas and cancer immunology. He leads multiple Cancer Research UK-funded projects, including the Southampton Centre’s clinical and non-clinical training programs.
Research interests span precision medicine for aggressive lymphomas, NK cell-based therapies, and the impact of obesity on cancer treatment resistance. His work integrates molecular profiling, clinical trial design, and translational oncology. Over 20 active research projects highlight his role in advancing therapeutic strategies for hematologic malignancies.
Key publications from 2022–2025 address PET-based risk stratification in lymphoma, XPO1 inhibitor mechanisms, and SARS-CoV-2 vaccine responses in cancer patients. His collaborative efforts include international trials (IELSG37) and interdisciplinary teams at the Institute for Life Sciences and Centre for Cancer Immunology.
