Gao Weibo

Prof Gao Weibo is a distinguished academic holding multiple endowed professorships at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He serves as Chair of the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and holds the Dieter Schwarz Endowed Professorship in Quantum Sovereignty and Resilience. His roles include Professorships in both the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, along with leadership positions at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT@NTU and CQT@NUS).

His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich. Key research focuses on quantum technologies, topological materials, and optoelectronics. Current projects explore quantum emitters, nonlinear optical phenomena, and quantum sensing using defect centers in diamond and hBN.

Recent research trends highlight advancements in moiré materials, quantum machine learning, and room-temperature quantum devices. His work bridges theory and application, with contributions to quantum photonics and spintronics. He leads the Nanyang Quantum Hub (NQH) and collaborates internationally across institutions like CQT@NUS.
