Professor Gangadhara Prusty is a Scientia Professor at UNSW Australia, serving as the Founding Director of the ARC Training Centre for Automated Manufacture of Advanced Composites (AMAC) (2016–present) and the Director of Research at the Australian Composites Manufacturing CRC (ACM CRC) (2022–present). He has held leadership roles including Deputy Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT@UNSW) (2008–2019) and Visiting Professor at the University of Liege, Belgium (2010). His academic journey at UNSW includes promotions from Lecturer (2005–2007) to Senior Lecturer (2007–2010), Associate Professor (2011–2013), and Professor (2014–present).

Research Interests span composite mechanics across nano-, micro-, and macro-scales, integrating advanced materials with automated manufacturing to innovate structural composites and biomechanics. His work includes multi-scale modeling of composites, online monitoring of automated fiber placement systems, and functionally graded materials for fracture mechanics applications. He also pioneers adaptive e-learning tools and the world’s first adaptive MOOC in Engineering Mechanics.
