معرفی
Ganapati Mahabaleshwar, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of inflammation and transcriptional regulation in macrophages. He holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Pune and completed postdoctoral training at the Department of Molecular Cardiology (Cleveland, OH).
Education:
- Doctor of Philosophy, Biotechnology, University of Pune, India (2004)
- Master of Science, Molecular Biology, Karnataka University, India (1999)
- Bachelor of Science, Biology/Chemistry, Karnataka University, India (1997)
Research Interests:
His laboratory investigates novel transcriptional regulators like KLF6 and CITED2 in chronic/acute inflammatory diseases. Key areas include:
- Role of KLF6 in promoting pro-inflammatory macrophage activation
- Anti-inflammatory role of CITED2
- Genetic links between these regulators and lipid abnormalities/coronary artery disease
Publications:
Recent work includes studies on KLF6-miR-223 signaling in inflammation (FASEB Journal, 2019) and CITED2’s suppression of pro-inflammatory responses (Molecular and Cellular Biology, 2018). Early work explored KLF6’s suppression of BCL6 (J. Biol. Chem., 2016) and its role in intestinal inflammation (Mucosal Immunology, 2016).
Grants & Labs:
Current projects explore lipid homeostasis and atherogenesis in macrophages. His lab uses molecular and cellular approaches to dissect transcriptional networks in inflammation.
