Gan Huang is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London, and leads the Hybrid Solar Technologies (HST) laboratory. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Helmholtz Investigator Group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. His research focuses on next-generation solar technologies, particularly hybrid photovoltaic-thermal systems, integrating methods like spectral splitting and biomimetic hydrogels.
- Education: PhD from Tsinghua University (2018), awarded the Outstanding PhD Thesis Award.
- Postdoctoral Experience: University of Oxford (2018), followed by the Clean Energy Processes (CEP) Laboratory at Imperial College London (2019–2021).
Research interests span mechanical engineering, interdisciplinary engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, and applied mathematics, with a focus on enhancing solar energy harvesting through concurrent electricity and high-temperature heat production.
