Galena Pisoni

Dr. Galena Pisoni is a Lecturer in Data Analytics at York Business School, York St John University. She also serves as a Visiting Lecturer at IAE School of Management, Université Côte d'Azur, Nice, France. Her academic career includes visiting researcher positions at prestigious institutions including University of Twente, Delft University of Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and the Netherlands Organisation for applied scientific research (TNO).

Dr. Pisoni earned her Ph.D. from University of Trento and holds double Masters degrees with honors from University of Edinburgh and University of Trento. Her educational background has established a strong foundation for her interdisciplinary research approach.

Her research interests span Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Knowledge Management, Business Informatics, Digital Innovation, Business Processes, Business Process Management, Socio-technical Systems, and Technology Management. Dr. Pisoni's work focuses on applying data analytics and AI technologies to solve business challenges, particularly in finance and sustainability domains. She has developed expertise in blockchain applications for business processes and explainable AI for financial services.

Analysis of Dr. Pisoni's recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on practical AI applications in business contexts, with particular focus on responsible AI implementation, blockchain for financial processes, and data-driven sustainability solutions. Her work bridges technical AI capabilities with business needs, emphasizing human-centered approaches and ethical considerations.

Dr. Pisoni has secured significant research funding from multiple international sources including Research England, COST, European Institute of Innovation & Technology, and European Universities initiative. Her grants total over €140,000, supporting collaborative research on explainable AI in finance, business intelligence reporting, and innovation education.

As an educator, Dr. Pisoni serves as Module Director for Data Analytics and the Blockchain Marketing and Data Analytics Capstone project at postgraduate level. She teaches across MSc Marketing, MSc International Business, and MBA programs. She has supervised PhD research, including serving as co-supervisor for Meriem Kherbouche's PhD at ELTE University and as external examiner for Alessandro Bitetto's PhD dissertation at the University of Pavia.

Dr. Pisoni actively contributes to the academic community as a Core member of COST action Fintech and Artificial intelligence in Finance, Program committee member of the International Conference on Smart Business Technologies, and main organizer of the Women in Fintech conference. She has delivered multiple invited talks on AI in fintech at international conferences and academic institutions.
