Gal S. Barbut, M.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Neonatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. His clinical expertise includes neonatal resuscitation optimization, care for premature neonates focusing on pulmonary physiology to prevent ventilatory complications, and management of complex neonates with congenital anomalies and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) requirements.
- Education: MD from St. George's University School of Medicine (2015), followed by Pediatrics Internship and Residency at Maimonides Medical Center (2015–2019), and a Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (2019–2022).
Dr. Barbut’s research centers on bronchopulmonary dysplasia, investigating epigenetic modifications (DNA hydroxymethylation) and developing lung simulators to enhance neonatal resuscitation training. He also focuses on medical device innovation for neonatal monitoring.
