Dr. Gail Lynn Slye serves as a tenured Professor of Education at Drury University's School of Education & Child Development since achieving full professorship in 2014, teaching undergraduate foundation/methods courses and graduate Master in Education classes at the St. Robert campus through seated, blended, and online formats after joining the faculty in 1997.
Her educational background includes:
- B.A. from San Diego State University (1978)
- M.A. in Education/Special Education from San Diego State University (1982)
- Specialist in Educational Administration-Director of Special Education from Southwest Missouri State University (1991)
- Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, Curriculum and Instruction, and Special Education from University of Missouri-Columbia (1999)
Dr. Slye's research centers on technology implementation in educational settings and educator empowerment, with pioneering work in virtual communities for special educator retention, multimedia-intelligence alignment, and electronic reserve systems for teacher training. Her presentations at national/international conferences address critical gaps in modern pedagogy through frameworks like Developmental Pathways and Technology and Connected Communities of Inquiry.
