Colonel Gail E. S. Yoshitani serves as Professor and Head of the Department of History & War Studies at the United States Military Academy (West Point). Appointed permanently in 2008 after earning her PhD from Duke University, she maintains active military service through operational deployments including roles as Director of the Commander’s Initiatives Group in Afghanistan (2011) and Fellow on the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Strategic Studies Group (2015-16).
