Gaby Kosa

Gaby Kosa serves as a special assignment instructor for ‘Experimental Printing and Processing Techniques’ at the Chair of Art and its Didactics within Bauhaus University Weimar’s Faculty of Art and Design since 2025. Previously, she worked as an artistic assistant at the university’s Chair of Typography (2007-2017), co-organized major typography exhibitions/conferences, and gained extensive teaching experience across adult education and community school settings in Jena.

Her expertise centers on analogue printing processes, paper and book production, and experimental bookbinding. She teaches specialized workshops including ‘Broschüren’ covering Japanese, English, French and Swiss binding techniques, and ‘Hochdruck’ focusing on letterpress methods. Her work emphasizes material innovation, evident in cardboard-based exhibition architecture like the ‘PappPalast’ presented at Leipzig Book Fair.

Through collaborative projects with architecture departments and decade-long involvement in typography festivals, Kosa bridges traditional craft with contemporary art education. Her teaching methodology prioritizes hands-on experimentation with printing carriers, media, and structural book forms, maintaining direct connections to Bauhaus principles of functional materiality.
