Gabrielle Messeder is a Research Fellow in Ethnography at the University of Greenwich, affiliated with the School of Stage and Screen under the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She is also a Lecturer on the BMus Music programme and a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at City, University of London. Her research, supervised by Professor Laudan Nooshin, focuses on Brazilian music and dance in Lebanon, intersecting with cultural diversity and experimental sound practices.
She contributes to the AHRC-funded project 'Exploring Cultural Diversity in Experimental Sound' (2021-23) and is part of the Sound/Image Research group at the University of Greenwich. Beyond academia, Gabrielle is an active musician, performing Brazilian and West African music in London. Her work bridges ethnographic research, musicology, and cross-cultural artistic expression.
