Luigi Monteanni is a PhD researcher in ethnomusicology at the School of Arts, SOAS University of London, supported by an AHRC CHASE Scholarship. His research focuses on the indigenization of extreme metal in West Java's Sundanese horse trance dance and transnational pop music genres. He lectures at institutions including SOAS, ISBI Bandung, and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. As co-founder of Artetetra Records, he explores digital folklore and radical exoticism in late globalization. His work spans applied anthropology, qualitative research, and collaborations with festivals like CTM and Roskilde.
