Dr. Gabrielle Lanier is a Professor in the History Department at James Madison University (JMU), serving as Director of the Public History Concentration. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware, an M.A. from the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture, and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on cultural landscapes, vernacular architecture, and public history, with a specialization in U.S. historical archaeology.
Her work bridges academic scholarship and community engagement, emphasizing material culture interpretation and heritage preservation.
