Gabrielle Calvocoressi is an Associate Professor and Walker Percy Fellow, specializing in poetry and creative writing. Her research interests span African American Literature, Contemporary American Literature, Feminist Theory, and Queer Poetics. She holds an MFA from Columbia University (2000) and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College (1996).
Her award-winning poetry collections include Rocket Fantastic (2017, Audre Lorde Award), Apocalyptic Swing (2009), and The Last Time I Saw Amelia Earhart (2005). Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Kenyon Review, and Poetry.
Calvocoressi has received prestigious fellowships including the Stegner Fellowship (Stanford) and Rona Jaffe Award. She is currently working on a memoir (The Year I Didn’t Kill Myself) and a novel (The Alderman of the Graveyard). She collaborates with Vaughan Ashlie Fielder and Daniel Rose through The Field Office and Weight of Bees, producing chapbooks and broadsides for poets.
Her teaching focuses on poetry workshops and stylistics. She resides in Carrboro, N.C.
