Gabriella Baki is an Associate Professor at the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where she serves as the Director of the BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences Cosmetic Science and Formulation Design Program. She has been a faculty member at the University of Toledo since January 2012, bringing extensive expertise in cosmetic science and pharmaceutics to her role.
Dr. Baki holds multiple advanced degrees from the University of Szeged, Hungary, including a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics (2011), a Pharm.D. (2008), and an M.A. in Pharmaceutical and Medical Translation and Interpretation (2008). Her educational background also includes a Quality Assurance Specialist Pharmacists postgraduate training (2016).
Dr. Baki's research focuses on topical drug delivery systems, sensory characterization of cosmetic products, sunscreen technologies, and formulation optimization. Her work bridges the gap between pharmaceutical science and cosmetic applications, with particular emphasis on understanding how formulation affects product performance and consumer perception. She has pioneered research in areas such as blue light protection, sustainable cosmetic development, and the application of Hansen solubility parameters in cosmetic formulation.
Her scientific contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Ohio Valley Society of Cosmetic Chemists Chapter Best Speaker Award (2021, 2018), the Outstanding Teacher Award (2020), and the Outstanding Professor of the Year award (2017). Dr. Baki has published extensively, with over 55 publications including the widely recognized book "Introduction to Cosmetic Formulation and Technology" (2nd edition, 2022).
Dr. Baki actively serves the academic and professional community through multiple advisory and leadership roles, including as faculty advisor for the Sigma Phi Sigma Pharmaceutical Sciences Honor Society and the UT Cosmetic Chemist Society. She maintains strong international connections as the Relationship Manager for the University of Szeged, Hungary.
Her professional affiliations span multiple organizations including the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC), and American Chemical Society, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to cosmetic science and pharmaceutical education.
