Gabriele Körlin

Gabriele Körlin is a Researcher at the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum since 1999, focusing on Mining Archaeology. She leads fieldwork on Roman mining in Germany and Kosovo, including sites near Ulpiana and Wallerfangen.

• PhD in Archaeology (settlement archaeology, Stone Age focus)
• Involved in redacting museum publications and preparing special exhibitions
• Active in fieldwork: Roman mining in Kosovo (since 2009), Roman azurite mining in Wallerfangen (2000-2005), and Roman lead-silver mining on Lüderich (1999-2005)
• Member of the Swiss Society for Prehistory and Early History

Research Interests:
Her work centers on Roman mining practices in Germany and Kosovo, analyzing metallurgical processes, trade networks, and the socio-economic impact of ancient mining. She investigates mineral extraction technologies, settlement patterns near mining sites, and the preservation of industrial archaeological landscapes.

- Heinrich Winkelmann Fellowship for developing young researchers
