Gabriele Alex

Prof. Gabriele Alex is a Professor of South Asia Studies at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Tübingen. She serves as Director of the Department and Editor of the Zeitschrift für Ethnologie/Journal for Social and Cultural Anthropology. Her research focuses on Medical Anthropology, Cultural Heritage, and South Asian Studies, with thematic emphases on childhood, migration, and museum studies. She leads several projects including 'A Doctorate in the Museum' and 'EthnOA – Open Access in Ethnology'.
