Dr. Gabriela Ryser is a Research Fellow at the University of Göttingen, affiliated with the Collaborative Research Center 1136 (SFB 1136) project TP A 03. Her work bridges Latin literature, religious studies, and late antique cultural history.
- PhD in Philosophy (2018) from the University of Göttingen
- MA in Latin Language and Literature, English Philology, and Greek Language and Literature from the University of Fribourg (CH)
- LDS II high school teacher diploma in Latin and English
Her research focuses on Latin pagan and Christian epics of late antiquity, particularly Claudius Claudianus, and explores intersections of education, religion, and literary culture in the 4th century CE. She has published extensively on Claudian's works, including a 2020 monograph on the underworld topos in De raptu Proserpinae.
Recent publications analyze late antique biblical poetry, Pliny the Younger's epistolary style, and intertextual influences in Claudian's oeuvre. Ryser has taught seminars on Greco-Roman literature, mythology, and rituals at the University of Göttingen from 2016 to 2018.
