Gabriela Gallardo Lastra

Gabriela Gallardo Lastra is a PhD researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. She holds an MSc and is pursuing a PhD in Development Studies and Gender. Her research focuses on decolonial studies, Indigenous women's care work, feminist democracy, and Latin American socio-political dynamics. She lectures in the Gender Studies minor and actively participates in the Groningen Feminist Network.

Her expertise includes gender studies, Indigenous studies, and development studies. Key research themes involve Buen Vivir philosophy, decolonial feminist praxis, and political representation of marginalized groups in Ecuador. Recent publications analyze Indigenous women’s care work dynamics, feminist movements through the CONAIE lens, and Ecuadorian political crises.
