Gabriel Shapiro is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. His research focuses on ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, with a particular emphasis on metaphysics, ontology, and essentialism in the works of Plato and Aristotle.
He received his PhD from Princeton University in 2022, where his dissertation explored essentialism in Plato and Aristotle. He later held a Bersoff Faculty Fellowship at New York University from 2022 to 2024, furthering his academic engagement with classical philosophy.
