Gabriel P. Swarts is an Affiliate Counseling Professor in the School of Education at Baldwin Wallace University and serves as the Associate Dean of Human Development Disciplines. Previously, he held faculty positions at the University of Wyoming and St. Bonaventure University, and taught in Northeast Ohio public schools for nearly a decade. He earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Kent State University (2017) and an MA in History from the same institution (2006).
His research focuses on artificial intelligence in education, data ethics, global education, and teacher education. He emphasizes the moral and political dimensions of teaching, advocating for education that prepares students for a globalized, democratic society. His theoretical work bridges technology integration, intercultural education, and democratic philosophies.
Swarts has secured significant grants, including a $125,000 Robert Noyce Capacity Building Grant (2023), a $160,000 Ohio grant addressing educator shortages (2022), and a $35,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant for a cross-curricular technology hub (2022). His presentations include topics such as 'Humanities Hub: A Technology Space for Collaborative Humanities Curriculum' (2024) and 'Breaking the Speed of Information: Virilio’s Concepts in Curriculum Studies' (2021).
He has published widely on educational technology, teacher training, and global citizenship. Outside academia, he is a musician and father to his 5-year-old daughter, Siena.
