Polytechnic University of Cataloniaمعرفی
Gabriel Manel Canales is a Research Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), affiliated with the Department of Physics and the ETSEIB School of Engineering. He leads research within the Condensed, Complex and Quantum Matter Group (CCQM), focusing on molecular dynamics simulations and computational physics. His work spans condensed matter systems, polymer science, and chemical physics, with a particular emphasis on understanding atomic and molecular behavior in liquids, solutions, and conductive polymers.
His research interests include studying hydrogen bonding in acid solutions, structural properties of liquids like succinonitrile and sulfuric acid, and the dynamics of conductive polymers such as polyaniline. He has contributed to over 70 publications, including high-impact articles in journals like the Journal of Chemical Physics and Journal of Molecular Liquids. His work often employs advanced computational methods to model material properties and phase behavior.
Dr. Canales has advised two doctoral students, Emanuele Monza and Israel Cabeza de Vaca Lopez, and has been involved in multiple competitive research projects funded by national and regional grants. He collaborates extensively within the CCQM group and has contributed to educational materials such as the textbook 'Física per a estudiants d'Informàtica.' His research bridges computational and experimental approaches to address challenges in materials science and environmental chemistry.
