Gabriel Hrynick is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of New Brunswick and Director of the Northeastern Archaeological Survey. His research explores coastal hunter-gatherer adaptations, domestic/ritual structures, and public archaeology.
Specializing in Wabanaki archaeology, he investigates settlement patterns from 13,000 BP to the 17th century. Fieldwork integrates GIS, erosion monitoring, and community collaboration. Honors include National Geographic Explorer and Canadian Archaeological Association awards for public engagement.
Publications analyze hunter-gatherer complexity, ritual effigies, and climate threats to coastal sites. He co-authored 'The Archaeology of the Atlantic Northeast' and co-edited 'The Far Northeast: 3000 BP to Contact'.
