Dr. Gabriel Flynn is an Associate Professor of Theology at Dublin City University's School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music. He completed his doctorate at the University of Oxford in 2000. His research focuses on twentieth-century Catholic thinkers, philosophy-theology relationships, historical/political theology, business ethics, and Catholic Reformation movements in Ireland and Europe.
His research examines theological renewals through historical frameworks while addressing contemporary ethical challenges. Recent publications demonstrate sustained interest in leadership ethics during crises, ecclesiological developments, and theological responses to modern pluralistic societies. The works consistently engage with ethical dimensions of institutional practices and philosophical foundations of religious thought.
Publications from 2019-2023 show three dominant themes: 1) Ethical frameworks for leadership in business and societal contexts, 2) Historical analyses of theological movements and church reforms, and 3) Contemporary applications of theological principles to modern challenges including pandemics, banking crises, and religious pluralism. This body of work bridges theological scholarship with practical ethics across multiple domains.
