Gabriel Fauveaud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Montréal’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and a member of the Centre d’études asiatiques and the Centre d’études et de recherches internationales (CÉRIUM). He holds a PhD in Urban Studies and Human Geography from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2013) and a Master’s in Human Geography from the same institution (2008). His work focuses on urban dynamics, particularly in Southeast Asia and Montréal, examining how real estate practices, governance, and capital accumulation shape urban inequality. He has led research projects funded by organizations like the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

- Montréal’s gentrification and real estate markets

He leads and collaborates on major research initiatives, including:
- FQRSC-funded study on Chinese investments in Southeast Asian urban transformation

Active in the Collectif de Recherche et d’Action sur l’Habitat (CRACH), focusing on critical urban research. Member of the Réseau Villes Régions Monde (VRM) and the Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Urbanization in the Global South.
