Gabriel Broughton

Gabriel Broughton is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he joined in July 2025. He also participates in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Program.

• Education: PhD in Philosophy from Princeton University (2024), JD from the University of Chicago Law School.

Research Interests: His work spans Ethics, Political Philosophy, and Philosophy of Law, with secondary interests in Logic, Epistemology, and Metaphysics. He focuses on topics like moral requirements, legal reasoning, and formal models of precedents.

Publications: His recent work includes analyses of legal precedents, democratic theory, and Carnapian frameworks, often bridging interdisciplinary gaps between philosophy and law.
