Prof. dr. G.C. (Gerry) Wakker is a Professor of Ancient Greek Language and Literature at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. He specializes in Ancient Greek linguistics, literature, and discourse analysis, with notable contributions to Hellenistic poetry and syntactic studies. His academic leadership roles include serving as Dean of the Faculty of Arts (2009–2019), Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer (2020–2024), and Director of OIKOS (the national research school in Classical Studies).
