G. David Buntin is a Professor and Research and Extension Interface (REI) Coordinator in the Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. His work focuses on integrated pest management (IPM) for grain, forage, and alternative crops in Georgia, excluding soybean. He co-teaches courses such as ENTO 4000/6000: General Entomology and ENTO 8820: Concepts of Integrated Pest Management.
- Research Interests: IPM systems for agronomic crops, plant resistance to insects (e.g., Hessian fly in wheat), biological control, economic thresholds, and pest monitoring.
- Extension Activities: Delivering insect management strategies to agricultural stakeholders through training sessions, crop production guides, and digital platforms.
Recent Trends in Publications: His research emphasizes pest dynamics in corn, sorghum, and cereal grains, with a focus on Helicoverpa zea, Melanaphis sacchari, and Halyomorpha halys. Key areas include Bt crop resistance, parasitoid interactions, and weather-driven pest prediction models.
- Collaborations: Works with UGA cereal grain breeding programs and regional agricultural teams.
- Laboratory Personnel: Includes Research Professional Brett Byous.
