Dr. Fuyi Li serves as Group Leader of Computational Systems Oncology at the South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) within the University of Adelaide's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He leads the Artificial Intelligence for Biological Innovation (ABI Lab), focusing on developing cutting-edge computational approaches for cancer research.
Dr. Li completed his PhD in 2020 at Monash University under Professors Jiangning Song and Trevor Lithgow, followed by a bioinformatics research fellowship at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. His research spans genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, with specialization in DNA/RNA modifications and protein post-translational modifications.
His lab has developed over 40 bioinformatics tools used in more than 80 countries, processing over 1.2 million calculation jobs. Notable tools include Procleave, DeepCleave, GlycoMine, and ProsperousPlus, with applications spanning structural biology, microbiology, agriculture, and therapeutic development.
Dr. Li has published 35 bioinformatics approaches as first-, co-first, and corresponding author, with 12 Clarivate Highly Cited papers and 2 Hot Papers. His work has been utilized by researchers globally and has attracted commercial interest from companies in the US and Switzerland.
His research demonstrates significant translational impact, with tools applied in neurodegenerative disease research, antimicrobial resistance studies, agricultural biotechnology, and targeted drug development.
Dr. Li is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students and maintains an active research program bridging computational methodology development with biological applications in cancer research.
