Funda Eryurt is a Scientific Staff Member at the Chair for Quranic Sciences, Center for Islamic Theology, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. She has been actively contributing to research and teaching since October 2021 and holds a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Goethe University Frankfurt. She is currently pursuing her doctoral research under the Maturidi Doctoral Fellowship.

Her research centers on Quranic manuscript studies, focusing on the development of Arabic script, Quranic exegesis, and Islamic illumination art. She explores intertextual connections between prophetic narratives in the Torah, Bible, and Quran, and teaches seminars on Quranic semantics, classical Arabic lexicography, and illuminated manuscripts. Her scholarly interest bridges philology, art history, and theology.
Recent publications and editorial work demonstrate a strong focus on the materiality and aesthetics of early Quranic manuscripts. Her research outputs emphasize textual preservation, paleographic analysis, and the visual culture of the Quran, particularly in the context of Tübingen’s historic collection.

She actively advises and collaborates on research projects, particularly in the editing and commentary of Quranic fragments. Funda Eryurt has participated in multiple research workshops and academic mobility programs, including ERASMUS+ training at the University of al-Qarawīyīn in Morocco. She has presented public lectures on Quranic aesthetics and manuscript studies.
She is involved in the Tübingen Quran Manuscripts series and contributes to the academic life of the doctoral students’ council as Vice-Chair. Her work is deeply embedded in the interdisciplinary environment of the Center for Islamic Theology, where she combines textual, historical, and artistic analysis of Islamic scripture.
