Dr. Fuk Ying Tse is an Assistant Professor in Organisation, Work and Employment at the Department of Management, Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham, a position she has held since January 2023. Previously, she was a Lecturer in Work and Employment at the University of Leicester (2020–2022) and held teaching and research positions at the University of Warwick. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Business and Management Studies from the University of Warwick (2020), an MPhil in Government and Public Administration, and a BSSc in Government and Public Administration, both from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Her research focuses on employment relations and the sociology of work, particularly in the areas of reward management, job quality, pay transparency, and equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). She employs a labour process perspective, especially in examining how workers in Chinese factories learn about and contest pay practices. Her recent work extends to the UK context, exploring gender pay gap reporting compliance, the job quality of Hong Kong immigrants, and the career development of displaced academics. She is committed to engaging with trade unions, employer associations, and community organisations to promote responsible and inclusive employment practices.
Her recent publications reflect a strong interdisciplinary trend, spanning industrial relations, sociology of work, and policy advocacy. Key themes include pay transparency, migrant labour, and global industrial relations, with a geographic focus on China and Europe. Her work appears in journals such as Work, Employment and Society, European Journal of Industrial Relations, and Economic and Industrial Democracy.

Dr. Tse is actively involved in teaching, delivering modules such as Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management (MSc International Management Online) and People Management and Development (MSc Management). She welcomes PhD supervision in employment relations, reward management, pay communication, and the workplace inclusion of immigrants. She is also affiliated with the Political Economy research group within the Department of Management.
