Frédérique HINTZY is an Associate Professor at Université Savoie Mont Blanc, where she has been a key academic figure since 2001. She holds a PhD from Franche-Comté University (1999) and earned her HDR in 2019. She is Deputy Director and Head of the Chambéry site at the Inter-university Laboratory of Human Movement Biology. She founded and directs the Master's program in 'Engineering and Ergonomics of Physical Activities,' which enrolls around 60 students annually and is recognized for its high employability rate.
Her research focuses on human motor efficiency—achieving optimal physical performance with minimal energetic, muscular, or mechanical cost. She integrates physiological, muscular, biomechanical, and technological perspectives to study complex human movement, particularly in outdoor mountain sports such as alpine skiing and cycling. Her work often involves developing and validating novel measurement tools (e.g., 3D force sensors for skiing) and sports equipment (e.g., compression garments to reduce muscle vibration).
