Friederike Neiske serves as a Postdoctoral researcher in the junior research group COLDSPOT and a Visiting scientist at the University of Hamburg, within the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences and the Department of Earth System Sciences. She is actively associated with the Research Training Group 2530 (GRK2530) "The Role of Biota in the Carbon Cycle of Estuaries", focusing on interdisciplinary soil-ecosystem research.
Her work centers on biogeochemical processes in terrestrial ecosystems, with specialized investigations into carbon and nutrient dynamics in tidal and arctic soils. She examines intricate interactions between soil matrices, plant communities, and microbial networks to unravel ecosystem functioning under extreme environmental conditions. This research bridges soil science, microbial ecology, and climate change impacts, particularly in vulnerable polar and estuarine landscapes.
Dr. Neiske operates within the COLDSPOT junior research group dedicated to cold-region soil processes, while contributing to GRK2530's estuary-focused initiatives. Her laboratory work integrates field studies from arctic and tidal environments, utilizing advanced biogeochemical analysis to model carbon fluxes and nutrient cycling across these critical ecosystems.
