Fridez Emmanuel

Prof. Emmanuel Fridez is an Associate Professor at the Fribourg School of Social Work (HETS-FR), part of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO). His work focuses on social work outside traditional settings, social entrepreneurship, qualitative methods, and humanitarian action. He currently co-leads a research project on participatory decision-making in social enterprises (2025-2026), funded by HES-SO. Previously, he co-led a study on street harassment in Fribourg (2017-2020), resulting in policy recommendations.

Key research interests include integrating social entrepreneurship into social work education, analyzing urban social interventions, and addressing systemic issues in public spaces. He has published extensively in journals like Reiso: revue d'information sociale, focusing on topics like social innovation, community approaches, and policy development. His 2013 doctoral thesis provided foundational work on modeling social work interventions in Fribourg.

Notable achievements include developing frameworks for social work practice outside institutional settings and advocating for interdisciplinary education. He collaborates with local institutions and international networks to bridge academic research with practical social solutions.
