Dr. Freya Higgins-Desbiolles is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism Management at the University of South Australia and Adjunct Professor at UniSA Business. With a PhD in Politics and International Relations from Flinders University (2006), her research focuses on justice, solidarity, and community rights in tourism, including Indigenous tourism, sustainable practices, and critical political analyses.
Research Interests include decolonization, truth-telling in settler-colonial contexts, regenerative tourism, and the intersection of tourism with equity and policy. She advocates for structural justice in tourism governance and challenges neoliberal frameworks through dialogic approaches.
Recent Publications highlight themes in regenerative tourism, SDGs during polycrisis, and critical analyses of tourism's political dimensions. Her work bridges academia with activism, emphasizing Indigenous sovereignty and ethical engagement.
