Professor Fredrik Gustafsson at Linköping University is a leading researcher in sensor informatics, affiliated with the Department of Systems Engineering (ISY) and its Control Engineering division. His work bridges theoretical signal processing with real-world applications in conservation biology and autonomous systems.
- 1988: MSc in Electrical Engineering
- 1992: PhD in Control Engineering
Research spans stochastic signal processing, adaptive filtering, and change detection, applied to marine automation, wildlife protection, and AI-driven conservation. Articles focus on machine learning for animal classification, seismic sensing, and pandemic data analysis.
Key awards: Arnberg Prize (KVA, 2004), IVA member (2007), SAAB scholarship (2011). He co-leads the Smart Savannahs initiative and contributes to m-learning projects in Kenya.
