Fredrik Alvén is an Associate Professor at Malmö University's Faculty of Learning and Society, where he teaches history education in teacher training programs. His research examines historical consciousness, curriculum development, and democratic values in education, with particular focus on controversial topics and pedagogical methodologies. He actively contributes to the 'Disciplinary Literacy and Inclusive Teaching' research environment and leads international collaborations including an Erasmus+ curriculum project.
Alvén's recent scholarly work explores intersections between historical and democratic consciousness across national curricula, gender differences in historical engagement, and analysis of citizenship in educational policy. His publications demonstrate consistent focus on improving history pedagogy through empirical studies of teaching practices and curriculum design.
