Fredric Bauer is an Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH), affiliated with the Department of Environmental and Energy Systems Studies. He is a member of CIRCLE and the LTH Profile Area: Food and Bio. His work focuses on low-carbon innovation, circular economy transitions, and sustainable plastics production, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and responsible consumption.
Key projects include the hyBit initiative (2023–2026), examining Nordic hydrogen strategies, and the STEPS Phase 2 project (2020–2024), advancing sustainable plastics pathways. He has also led the Political Economy of Petrochemical Transitions (2020–2024) and collaborated on policy analyses like the EU's textile and plastics coherence study.
Bauer’s research integrates interdisciplinary approaches, addressing topics such as petrochemical industry dynamics, green industrial policy risks, and fossil fuel dependency. His recent publications explore Nordic hydrogen economies, EU plastics policies, and the political economy of petrochemical expansion.
He actively engages in public debates and media discussions, emphasizing the societal implications of industrial decarbonization and climate policy. His work bridges academia and policy, offering actionable insights through over 70 research outputs and 12 funded projects.
