University of Copenhagenمعرفی
Frederik Vilhardt is an Associate Professor at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms in neuroimmunology and neurodegenerative diseases.
His primary research interests include:
- NADPH oxidase (NOX2) trafficking and function in macrophages and microglia
- Autophagy and endosomal pathways in neurodegenerative conditions
- ESCRT complex in frontotemporal dementia and spastic paraplegia
- Tumor-associated macrophages in meningioma
Dr. Vilhardt's work bridges basic cellular mechanisms with clinical applications through his collaboration with the Neurosurgical Department at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen. His research has significant implications for understanding neuroinflammation and developing therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative conditions and brain tumors.
His laboratory is currently funded by:
- Aage og Johanne Louis-Hansens Fond
- Læge Sofus Carl Emil Friis og hustru Olga Doris Fond
- NEYE fonden
Dr. Vilhardt teaches Cell Biology and Histology to students of Medicine, Molecular Biology, and related disciplines, and supervises ERASMUS and graduate students in his laboratory.
