Frederick van der Ploeg is a Professor of Economics and Research Director of the Oxford Centre for the Analysis of Resource Rich Economies at the University of Oxford (since 2008). He also holds an Adjunct Professorship at VU University Amsterdam (since 2011). Previously, he served as a State Secretary of Education, Culture and Science in the Netherlands (1998–2002) and Member of Parliament (1994–1998).
Education:
- Ph.D. Engineering, University of Cambridge and King’s College, Cambridge (1977–1981)
- B.Sc., First Class Honours, University of Sussex (1974–1977)
Research Interests: His work focuses on macroeconomics, climate economics, natural resource management, and the economics of higher education. He explores topics like optimal carbon taxation, resource curse dynamics, and green paradoxes.
