Frederick G. Welt, MD, is a Professor of Medicine and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He serves as Chief of Interventional Cardiology and a member of the Interventional Cardiology faculty. Previously, he directed Interventional Cardiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and led the Interventional Cardiovascular Experimental Laboratory.

His research focuses on translational device development for structural heart disease and stem cell therapy for cardiac conditions, notably through the PARTNER trial.
Recent publications highlight expertise in TAVR outcomes, myocardial infarction management, and Cath Lab pandemic protocols. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles since 2016, emphasizing cardiovascular imaging, antithrombotic therapy, and post-TAVR mortality.
