Frederic Schlackl is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technologies at HEC Montréal. He holds memberships in the Multidisciplinary Institute for Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience (IMC2) and the Research Group on Information Systems (GReSI). His expertise focuses on cybersecurity, data breaches, and information privacy. Schlackl earned his Dr. rer. pol. (Business and Economics) from the University of Mannheim, alongside an MSc in Management and BSc in Business Administration from the same institution.

Recent studies include a systematic review of data breach antecedents and the spillover effects of ransomware attacks.
