Fred Day-Lewis is a Joint Appointee Research Professor at the Colorado School of Mines and serves as Chief Geophysicist and Lab Fellow in the Environmental Subsurface Science Group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). His career includes 18 years as a Research Hydrologist at the U.S. Geological Survey.
Research focuses on hydrogeophysics, groundwater/surface-water interactions, real-time geophysical monitoring, and data analytics. He contributes to inverse modeling, parameter estimation, and digital signal processing.
- Associate Editor: Groundwater (current), Water Resources Research, Geosphere, and Hydrogeology Journal.
- Co-edited AGU monograph Subsurface Hydrology: Data Integration for Properties and Processes.
- Past President of AGU Near Surface Geophysics Section; Past Vice President of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics Society.
Awards include GSA Fellow (2015) and PNNL Laboratory Fellow (2021).
