Fred Brinkley

Fred Brinkley is a distinguished academic and professional in pharmacy and healthcare administration. He served as a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Pharmacy for 30 years, teaching pharmacy and drug law, and co-authored the textbook Texas and Federal Pharmacy and Drug Law. His career spans roles in academia, public service, and industry, including Director of the Iowa Drug Abuse Authority, Executive Director of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP), and Vice President of Professional Affairs at Merck-Medco Managed Care.

Brinkley holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin, attended Drake University’s Graduate School of Public Administration, and earned an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin.

His professional contributions include regulatory consulting, public affairs leadership, and advocacy for pharmacy practice standards. He currently serves on the Advisory Council and maintains affiliations with UT Austin.
