Fred Boucher serves as an Associate Lecturer in Performing Arts at UFR Arts and Artistic Director of the Hauts-de-France photography center. He directs the Photaumnales festival and the Usimages biennial dedicated to industrial photography, while programming TWL (The Long Wall) and implementing photographic exhibitions and artistic residencies within the university.
His research centers on documentary photography as a memorial trace of the Hauts-de-France region, with specialized focus on industrial photography. He investigates how photographic practices construct cultural memory and preserve regional identity through visual archives, treating images as historical documents that memorialize local communities and industrial heritage.
Students engage with Professor Boucher through artistic residencies, exhibition curation, and festival organization that emphasize hands-on experience in documentary practices. His roles in the photography center and biennials provide platforms for practical application of memorialization techniques, connecting academic work with regional cultural preservation efforts in tangible ways.
