Dr. Bertrand's research focuses on Notch signaling, GSK-3 interactions, and PTEN regulation in cancer biology. His work has advanced understanding of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), stem cell pathways, and drug resistance mechanisms in colorectal, prostate, and leukemic cancers. He has pioneered interprofessional undergraduate research curricula integrating biomedical sciences and health care management.
His recent publications examine Notch-3's role in DNA repair, adipose tissue dysfunction in PCOS, and Smad3 phosphorylation in EMT. These studies highlight his expertise in signaling pathway crosstalk and oncogenic processes.
As an educator, he has taught courses in:
- Clinical Microbiology
- Biomedical Sciences Literature
- Cell Biology
- Honors Research Seminars
- Responsible Conduct of Research
