Research Interests: Andersson’s research merges semiotics with art history, examining visual communication, iconography, and the interplay between verbal and visual rhetoric. He explores socio-political themes such as socialist iconography, working-class comics, and Nordic cultural identity, often through interdisciplinary methodologies. His recent work also addresses AI’s role in art research and nationalist art canons.
Publication Trends: Recent articles focus on cognitive semiotics, iconology, and labor movement iconography. Sub-themes include empirical shorthand analysis, sensory signification, and interplay between abstraction and comics. These reflect his emphasis on critical theory and historical semiotic frameworks.

- The Britt and Karl-Hugo Axelsson Fund (2005)
- The Gerard Bonnier donation for 'young promising authors' (2006)
